The Story Behind The True Prizes Brand

When people visit True Prizes today, they see a competition website.

They see prizes, competitions, winners and live draws.

What they don't see is the journey that went into creating the brand behind it all.

This is the story of how True Prizes was built, where the ideas came from, and what we wanted the business to stand for from the very beginning.

How True Prizes Started

True Prizes originally started as an idea between myself and my friend Luke.

Like many small businesses, it began with conversations, notebooks full of ideas and plenty of late nights trying to work out how we could build something people would genuinely enjoy being part of.

We didn't want to create just another competition website.

We wanted to build a business that felt different.

A business that people trusted.

A business that customers enjoyed returning to week after week.

During the first six months of the journey, Luke and his family were heavily involved in helping get the business off the ground.

Luke welcomed a new baby into his family and naturally his priorities shifted towards family life and work commitments.

A hard decided was made, for him to step away from the business to focus on his growing family.

Today, True Prizes continues to be run by myself, supported by my wife Samantha and our family, as we work to grow the business and create exciting competitions for our customers.

Building A Brand, Not Just A Logo

One of the first things we realised was that if we wanted people to trust us, we needed a strong identity.

Trust is everything in the competition industry.

People need to know who they're entering with.

They need confidence that competitions are genuine.

They need confidence that winners receive their prizes.

That's why we decided to work with Brand Biscuit, a creative studio based in Plymouth.

Rather than simply creating a logo, they helped us define what True Prizes should stand for.

The Values Behind True Prizes

Working alongside Brand Biscuit, we identified six key principles that would form the foundations of the business:

  • Local at Heart

  • Fuel the Excitement

  • Social by Nature

  • Proven Reliability

  • Professional in Every Way

  • Rewarding for All

Although the business has evolved since those early days, these principles still influence many of the decisions we make today.

Inspired By Community

One thing that was important throughout the branding process was community.

We wanted True Prizes to feel approachable.

We wanted people to know there were real people behind the website.

We wanted customers to feel like they were part of something rather than simply buying a ticket and disappearing.

That idea continues today through our social media, live draws, winner announcements and customer interactions.

More Than Just Competitions

The branding process wasn't focused purely on prizes.

It was focused on the emotions behind winning.

The anticipation before a draw.

The excitement when numbers are announced.

The messages from winners.

The stories people share after receiving a prize.

Those moments are what make this business enjoyable to run.

That's what we wanted the brand to represent.

Why The Colours Matter

Every colour within the True Prizes brand was carefully chosen.

The deep navy blue represents trust, professionalism and reliability.

The gold tones represent celebration, excitement and winning.

The lighter supporting colours help keep the brand friendly, welcoming and accessible.

Together they create a balance between professionalism and fun.

Creating Something People Can Trust

When we launched True Prizes, we knew that trust wouldn't be built overnight.

Trust is earned.

It's earned by delivering prizes.

It's earned by answering customer questions.

It's earned by showing up every week.

It's earned by being transparent.

Every winner announcement, every live draw and every customer interaction helps build that trust a little further.

The Brand Continues To Grow

Like any business, True Prizes continues to evolve.

The website has changed.

The competitions have changed.

The graphics have changed.

The business itself has grown.

But the core identity remains the same.

A family-run competition business built on trust, transparency and creating excitement for our customers.

Looking Ahead

When we first started planning True Prizes, we couldn't have imagined where the journey would take us.

There have been challenges, lessons and plenty of hard work along the way.

There is still a long way to go.

But every business starts with an idea, and we're proud of the brand that has grown from those early conversations into the True Prizes you see today.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far.

We look forward to sharing the next chapter of the journey with you.
