The Time I Nearly Gave Up On True Prizes

I'll be honest.

There was a time when I seriously considered walking away from True Prizes.

Looking back now, it's strange to think about.

Today, I can see the progress we've made, the customers we've welcomed and the community we're building.

But when you're in the middle of the difficult days, it's much harder to see the bigger picture.

The Reality Of Starting A Business

When people see a business from the outside, they often see the exciting parts.

The winners.

The social media posts.

The competitions.

The prizes.

What they don't always see are the challenges behind the scenes.

The late nights.

The stress.

The uncertainty.

The moments where you question whether all the effort is actually worth it.

Starting True Prizes wasn't easy.

Like many new businesses, there were times when things didn't move as quickly as I hoped.

Competitions didn't always sell out.

Marketing didn't always work.

Some days felt like two steps forward and three steps back.

The Point Where I Questioned Everything

There came a point where I genuinely asked myself:

"Should I keep going?"

I think every business owner faces that question at some stage.

Not because they don't believe in the business.

But because building something from nothing can be exhausting.

You invest your time.

You invest your money.

You invest your energy.

And sometimes the results don't appear as quickly as you'd like.

Those are the moments that test you.

The People Who Kept Me Going

When I think back to that period, there were two things that stopped me from giving up.

The first was my family.

Samantha has supported this journey from day one.

Like any business owner's partner, she's seen the good days and the bad days.

She's listened to the ideas.

The frustrations.

The plans.

The doubts.

And she's always encouraged me to keep moving forward.

Then there are our children.

Whether they realise it or not, they give me a reason to keep pushing.

One of the biggest motivations behind True Prizes has always been creating a better future for my family.

The Amazing People I've Met

The second thing that kept me going was the people.

When we first launched True Prizes, I expected customers.

What I didn't expect was the number of genuinely good people I would meet along the way.

Customers who supported us from the beginning.

People who shared our posts.

People who entered competitions week after week.

People who sent encouraging messages.

People who believed in what we were trying to build.

Many of those people will probably never realise how much their support meant during the difficult periods.

A simple comment.

A kind message.

A competition entry.

Sometimes those small things arrive exactly when you need them most.

Why I'm Glad I Didn't Quit

If I had given up during that difficult period, none of what we've achieved since would have happened.

The winners wouldn't have won.

The friendships wouldn't have been built.

The lessons wouldn't have been learned.

The business wouldn't have grown.

Most importantly, I would have spent the rest of my life wondering what might have happened if I'd just kept going a little longer.

The Lesson

The lesson from today's blog is simple.

Don't quit on a bad day.

Every business owner has difficult days.

Every person has difficult days.

When things aren't going well, it's easy to make emotional decisions.

It's easy to think about walking away.

But the truth is that some of your biggest breakthroughs often come shortly after your hardest moments.

If I'd quit when things became difficult, I wouldn't be writing this blog today.

True Prizes wouldn't be here.

And I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet so many amazing people along the way.

Looking Ahead

There will undoubtedly be more challenges ahead.

That's part of running a business.

But now I understand something I didn't fully appreciate in those early days.

Success isn't about never facing difficulties.

It's about continuing despite them.

To everyone who has supported True Prizes so far, thank you.

Whether you've entered a competition, shared a post, sent a message or simply followed our journey, you've played a part in helping us get to where we are today.

And for that, I'll always be grateful.
