What Actually Makes A Competition Worth Entering?

When most people look at a competition, the first thing they notice is the prize.

A car.

A holiday.

A cash prize.

A gadget.

That's completely normal.

After all, the prize is what grabs our attention.

But after running True Prizes and speaking with countless customers, I've learned something interesting.

The prize alone doesn't always make a competition worth entering.

Bigger Doesn't Always Mean Better

It's easy to assume that the biggest prize automatically makes the best competition.

But that's not always the case.

Imagine two competitions.

One offers a £5,000 prize.

The other offers a £500 prize.

Most people immediately focus on the £5,000.

But what if the £5,000 competition has 50,000 tickets available?

And the £500 competition has only a fraction of that?

Suddenly there's more to think about than just the prize value.

Value Isn't Just About The Prize

When deciding whether to enter a competition, I think there are several things worth considering.

The prize.

The ticket price.

The number of entries available.

The reputation of the company.

The overall experience.

All of those factors contribute to whether a competition offers value.

Looking at only one part of the picture can sometimes be misleading.

Trust Matters

This is something many people overlook.

Before entering any competition, ask yourself:

Do I trust the company running it?

Can I see real winners?

Can I see evidence that prizes are delivered?

Can I contact the business if I need help?

Trust should always be part of the decision-making process.

A great prize means very little if you don't trust the company behind it.

Enter Competitions You'd Be Happy To Win

This sounds obvious, but it's surprising how often people enter competitions simply because they're popular.

My advice is simple.

Enter competitions where you'd genuinely enjoy winning the prize.

Whether that's cash.

A family day out.

A supermarket voucher.

A holiday.

A new gadget.

The best competitions are often the ones where you can already imagine yourself enjoying the prize.

Sometimes Smaller Competitions Offer More Excitement

One thing I've noticed over the years is that smaller competitions can often create just as much excitement as larger ones.

Sometimes even more.

Why?

Because they can feel more achievable.

The anticipation builds.

The draw feels closer.

The opportunity feels more real.

That's why we try to offer a mix of competitions at True Prizes rather than focusing only on huge headline prizes.

What Makes A Competition Worth Entering For Me?

If I were entering competitions myself, I'd look for four things:

  • A prize I'd genuinely enjoy winning

  • A company I trust

  • Good value for money

  • A competition that creates excitement

When those four things come together, you've got something worth considering.

The Lesson

The lesson from today's blog is simple.

Don't just look at the prize.

Look at the whole opportunity.

In life, people often focus on the headline.

The obvious thing.

The thing everyone else notices.

But the best decisions usually come from looking a little deeper.

Whether it's choosing a competition, starting a business or making an investment, it's often the bigger picture that matters most.

Looking Ahead

At True Prizes, we'll continue creating competitions that we believe offer excitement, value and opportunities for our customers.

Because for us, a good competition isn't just about giving away prizes.

It's about creating an experience people enjoy being part of.

And that's what makes a competition worth entering.
